The 2022 Tour de France route was unveiled Thursday morning

Starting with the distant Grand Department and then focusing mainly on the east and south of France, the race seems to have something for everyone. The 21 days of racing will feature wind, hills, four summit finishes, gravel and many kilometers for time trials.
Here we look at four key milestones in the 2022 Tour de France that are likely to have a huge impact on the final outcome.
STAGE 5: LILLE METROPOL – ARENBERG PORT DU HAINO, 155 KM
The stage begins in the largest city in northern France, Lille. From there, the riders will ride southeast for 80 kilometers and then enter the first of 11 cobblestone sectors on their way.
STEP 7: TOMBLINE – LA SUPER PLANCHE DE BELLE FILLE 176 KM
Next year the climb will be completed for the sixth time, which is perhaps not surprising given its usual role as a snack to the high Alps and Pyrenees.
STEP 12: BRIANSON – L’ALPE-D’UEZ, 166 KM
The 21 hairpins make up the most famous climb in the race and next year will be the final of three Alpine stages in the second week.
STEP 20: LACAPEL-MARIVAL – ROCAMADUR, 40 KM
For the third consecutive year, the Tour will conclude with a time trial on the penultimate day of the race. The organizers hope that there will be more unexpected magic.
